Marijuana should be legalized. Marijuana’s composition is complex, and has a number of physiological effects. Also, a reason for marijuana legalization is the potential wealth of health benefits that have largely been ignored (www.howardcc.edu). In addition, there are many industrial uses for the cannabis plant (www.sandi.net). Marijuana consists of a mixture of leaves, stems, and flowering tops of the Cannabis sativa plant, or hemp plant (Britannica 7/47). Marijuana is also known as grass, pot, tea, or weed. Both male and female plants contain psychoactive substances called cannabinoids. The ingredient in marijuana that produces most of the psychological and physiological effects is 1-delta-9-tetrahydrocannibinol, or THC.†¦show more content†¦This restricts any research or experimentation to be made with marijuana. Many researchers have suggested that marijuana be promoted to Schedule 2 classification, which would allow it to be tested, allow it would still be illegal. In addition, the medical community is the place where marijuana legalization has received the most support (Marshall 79). The many uses of the Cannabis plant have remained hidden since 1937, when the Marijuana Tax Act was passed, prohibiting the cultivation of the cannabis plant. Paper and clothing can both be made out of hemp with less harm to the environment. One acre of hemp can produce the same amount of paper as wood, with much less chemicals (www.sandi.net). Hemp fiber and pulp can also make biodegradable alternatives to plastic. In addition, many plastic products can be made with hemp cellulose without the use of petroleum. The cannabis plant can be used to make plant biomass fuel which can provide gasoline, methane, charcoal, and is much cleaner than fossil fuels. Lastly, hemp can be fabricated into boards for construction (www.sandi.net). Marijuana has a distinct composition, and its properties incite much debate about the issue of legalization. The War Of Northern Aggression Free Essays

Since the end of the American Civil War it has long been thought of as a war of freedom. The victorious Union declared that they were fighting to free the slaves in the South. However, in fact, the Civil War was actually a major breaking point in American History because it was really a power struggle between the old and the new. The Southern states eventually seceded from the Union because of differences in cultural expansion, political beliefs, and authority. Culturally, the South and the North were almost always at odds. However, it didn’t escalate into a serious matter until the admission of California and a growing interest in the West. This expansion created the question of whether or not slavery was allowed in the West, and although many people thought that the conflict was solved with the Missouri Compromise, they were sadly mistaken (just ask the Native Americans and how compromises worked out with them). The truth of the matter was that the majority of Northerners didn’t really care if the South had slaves or not in the beginning. Odds are that the institution of slavery would had died out anyhow with no need for a war. However, if the nation was expanding and growing into a respectable country around the world, slavery was what many people believed was holding America back. This created tensions between the North and the South which often led to violent encounters such as the raid on Harpers Ferry led by John Brown, as well as violent disputes in the West, particularly in Kansas, over popular sovereignty which eventually led to the nickname â€Å"Bleeding Kansas. † With industrialism circulating in the North and new ties being made between the North and the West due to advancements in railroads and transportation, along came with it a sense of superiority. The North was advancing along with the West, and the wicked South with all its impurities and old-fashioned traditions was holding the nation back. Although, what many Northerners couldn’t comprehend is that slavery was a necessary evil in the South. Slavery, along with technological advancements such as the cotton gin and short-staple cotton, were the main reasons for an influx of wealth in the region. In short, the livelihood of many Southerners was based on slavery and with the expansion in the West, and the question of slavery in the West, there was definite reason for Southerners to feel threatened. If people would fight to keep it contained then they would eventually fight to abolish it. In fact, in an excerpt from a speech given by Albert Brown he states that, â€Å"The Northerners hate us now, and they teach their children in their schools and churches to hate our children†¦. The John Brown raid, the burning of Texas, the stealthy tread of abolitionists among us, will tell the tale†¦. The North is accumulating power, and it means to use that power to emancipate your slaves (Doc 2).† This not only gives an example of how many Southerners felt threatened and infuriated but also shows the division of the country due to a prodding Northern agenda. Actually, in an excerpt from Jefferson Davis he said just that. He stated that, â€Å"Sectional hostility manifested in hostile legislation by states and raids of organized bodies sustained by Contributions†¦ of Northern Society furnish to us sufficient cause†, which basically means that Northern Society was backing Southern Society into a corner (Doc 7). Politically, the division between the two sections of the country was much greater than their already distant cultures. In fact, in the 1860 presidential election the popular vote was almost split right down the middle between the Northern Republican, Lincoln, and the Southern Democrat, Douglas. Not only was it divided in numbers but as well as the different sections of the country almost exactly (Doc 4). In fact, during the presidential campaign in 1860 the Republican party stated that, â€Å"we deny the authority of Congress, of a territorial legislature, or of any individuals, to give legal existence to slavery in any territory of the United States† whereas the Democratic party stated that, â€Å"all citizens of the United States have an equal right to settle with their property in the Territory, without their rights, either of person or property being impaired (Doc 1)†, ultimately showing the reader the different opinions held by each half of the country. This gradual disunion of the country and its politics eventually led to a series of events, including the repeal of the Missouri Compromise and such abolitionist literature as Uncle Tom’s Cabin, that started a war. In a passage written by George Templeton he reassured this when he said that, â€Å"we might have forgotten it had not Douglas undertaken to get Southern votes by repealing the Missouri Compromise. That was the final blow (Doc 5). † Despite the cultural and political differences of the war, to many people, it was about honor and integrity. The South felt as though the North had no right to tell it what it can and cannot do, and rightly so. Who were they to tell Southerners that after ages of building up their own Southern society and culture, they had to tear it down and conform to the rest of the country and its own beliefs and practices? In theory, the real reason behind the war was authority, and who exactly had it. Whether or not it was the pressure from the Federal Government to take control, or it was the states themselves who craved freedom from the government, or a combination of both didn’t matter because it was too far-gone at that point. However, the truth of the matter was summed up by a quotation from the Pittsburgh Press when it stated that, â€Å"The Republicans claim the right to make a code of laws for the South, not only in the States, but in the Territories (Doc 3).† This gives us the basis for what the war was truly about, which was the right to protect oneself and their way of life. So in conclusion, the Southern states seceded due to large differences in culture, politics, and faulty authority. This gave way to one of the bloodiest wars this country has ever seen with over half a million deaths on its own soil between its own countrymen. This tragedy led to resentment between both sections of the country, but allowed for the reestablishment of the Union to commence, giving way to the foundation of our present, somewhat unified country. These tools and techniques are as followings: Design, Develop and communicate clear, accurate, relevant and realistic goals: Goals should be design in such way that involves all essential attributes means easy to understand, complete, clear, accurate and realistic approachable. The rationale behind this is to team need to have complete visibility on same so they will follow all activities and perform accordingly that associate with this in effective and efficient manner. Team Planning: This phase related with identified and communicated goals. It involves categorization of work in different parts to perform by groups in effective and efficient manner to achieve goals, define timeline for each task, define expected outcomes from each task, allocation of roles and responsibilities of each task and communicate processes within task. Set Standardization and negotiation techniques: Under this technique cover deviation parameters with respect to each task in terms of perform as per outcomes and actual. These techniques provide information what is best possible alternative option along with deviation range if team not meet the targets. Monitoring: These techniques present and reflect set of information in terms of continuous measuring processes and keep control among expected and actual performance by the team. Through monitoring management enhance the overall production of work by continuously observe activities and tasks perform by team. ( Similar to above multiple other tools and techniques has been defined to manage team work and achieve goals. Another technique is: Inputs involve planning, defining and designing of goals, set standardization and other essential works. Process that involves communicates all the essential information to respective counterparts and asks to perform accordingly. Review tools and methods for developing solutions to problems There are tools and methods for developing the solutions to problems such as: Hard work and dedication With respect to the research, hard work and dedication are the major traits for problem solving. The people can deal with success with proper understanding of goals and IT consultant can work hard with the resolution on problems. Stress management This is very crucial method of problem solving because stress is not good for human beings and it is a nervous system for the human stimulus. Stress occurs with deadlines, fear factors and other approaches of anxiety. (Igor, 1987) Time management The time management is an important skill to manage and everyone fails to manage the time in their professional life. It cannot change the schedule of learning and it is useful for the organization. There is a need of tasks prioritization for success and performance. Techniques to assess the professional skills are vital and it should deal with mentoring, coaching and leadership. Mentoring will involve in goals achievement and a good mentor will be a communicator, a supporter and trustworthy. With coaching tools, the aims or goals would be attained effectively and leadership skills will help to resolve the problems with the discovery of new leadership skills. The issues are difficult to solve and the basic part of problem solving deals with the solutions effectively with leadership techniques. (Fred, 2006) 4.2. Appropriate strategy for problem solving There are few strategies to meet the problem solving skills and abilities such as: Communication skills: Strong communication skills are important to resolve the problems and a leader knows the importance of written and verbal skills. Decision making: The strong decision making focus on abilities and skills with respect to decision were making power that is not sufficient. There is a need to understand the ethical dilemma as it generates strong judgment and skills. This would develop the right decisions and development. (Khanna, et.al, 2005) Leadership skills: It is very important to deal with the organization and it has the ability and skills and it is very important in large organization. It motivates to deal with the common goals and the leader should deal with the rights and abilities to meet the common goals. There is a need of autocratic and democratic styles of leadership with respect to proper meaning to the organization. Professional skills are important when compared with the personal skills and it deals with coaching, leadership and other theories of management and leadership etc. This skill is vital to deal with the advanced professional advancements and technologies. Evaluation of the potential impact on the business of implementing the strategy There are different approaches that affect the implementation of the strategy and it can be dealt into soft, hard and combined approaches. Soft approaches include people and the level of communication with respect to implementation tactics. The commitment includes the organizational structure and the systems of administration. Strong execution cannot deal with the shortcomings and it influences the process of strategic formulation. This helps to promote the successful implementation and it implements the influence of strong integration. The discipline of organizational strategy includes strategy implementation with respect to communication and strategy. (Simons, 1995) Decision making style of managers focuses on the approach with respect to resolution and it adopts the rational method and non-rational method. Strategic decision makings and managers are not separated. With respect to the implementation of the plan, the huge investments are required for the staff members for the operations. Strict control and marketing helps to deal with the quick decision and the implementation of program that could ignore losses. The proposed plan should be considered successfully and its implementation.
